It was an Open Casket, which I didn't expect and surprised me, as I made my way closer, I wondered what I was going to see or how I would feel.
But just as I was about to see above and inside the polished Lacquer Box, white satin ruffles, someone cut right in front of me. A very small man.
His head was shaved except in the very center, at the top of his head, a small patch of short hair bound with a rubber band, My Brother whispered to me, "thats Pops friend.
I watched him bend down into the casket and he just started balling. Yelling out, " Pappa!!!Porque!!! Why!!!No!!!Yes!!! Nooooo!!! Ya no puede juantar!!!
It was as if his great Pharaoh was gone to start his after life journey.
My Brothers came to intervene by force to remove him. But I said, "Stop!!! Leave him be!!!" I saw that more than anyone, his tears were real, I felt his pain and let him say good bye in his own way..
I took him to the hallway and talked to him and he said he was from Honduras, like my Dad. He said he wanted to show me something important about my Father and proceeded to lift his shirt just above his chest to show me. "Ju see jes??? as I stared with intensity, even moving my head ever closer inspecting.
What was I looking at??? I noticed people walking past looking at us. I realized I'm staring at his nipple.
I asked him~"Man~ what am I lookin at???"
He remembered it was not on his chest, but it was actually on his shoulder.
He shows me a tattoo and said my Father bought it for him. He was so proud of it.
I tried to make out what I was looking at, and I saw it was a flag.
.
I said, "I thought you were from Honduras???
I said that tattoo is the flag for Nicaragua!!!"
"We don't know, he buy it for me!!! Tu Pappa!!! For me!!!
His name was Cucu (Kookooee) With a fast moving raspy voice, he is an artist and a very well known comedian in Latin Television and Radio
Then, I remember hearing him on the morning Spanish radio shows~
He loved my Father, the image was not important, it is a symbolic bond between kindred spirits.
Para Cucui!!!
