Randy Chavez has a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has worked extensively with Youth and Young Adults in the Community, as a Teacher, Counselor and Program Manager.He furthered to study abroad in Brazil to learn Afro Brazilian music art, religion and Culture.on and now lives in Belmont California.

Statement

My goal is to be creative  everyday, Learn as much as I can, while improving my ability, use my experience to further culminate in making better Art .

Biography

Randy Chavez was born in San Francisco, California. Where at an early age channeled his energy into being creative and expressing himself in the arts. His home was a stage, as he always wanted the attention of anyone in the house. With three siblings more or less 10 years apart, two sisters and two brothers, only one brother was a year younger and much later another brother would become a blessing in his world. His audience grew as the Boyfriends and Girlfriends were a perfect captive audience and their interest became very influential to him, but it was of them who's talent was pivotal and inspiring to him. Angelo, was very talented and would draw with great skill. Since then his young eyes would be opened and he would attempt to emulate what he saw as magic and would continue to draw and perform. He found that with a few props he could put on a some big clothes, a wig and pretend he was someone else and make people laugh. He had all the support from his family for the arts and sports. Many years he spent with his family at Russian River, helping in the orchard picking fruit and where he learned to swim and canoe Becoming attune to the many dangers of the river and it's many hazards, as he learned years later while leading a canoe trip for Catholic Charities Guerrero House. While standing on the bank, he noticed a man flailing in the water, he dove in and fought for his life, being pulled under several times, with no air, while trying to yell for help. When by some miracle his foot hit the ground and was able to pull the man to shore on the other side. He was awarded for bravery and for saving a life, while on duty for the Archdiocese of San Francisco, Catholic Charities.Years later, at a different Church event he would give a witness testimony at the Mormon Church in Foster City California. In a pact church, he delivered his testimony about having seen real Angels pass through his door. He said, "These Angels are as real as we are here today. They came to enlighten me and shared with me prayer and the message, that the Angels spoke from them in voices that were Angelic and I knew they were real and this is why I'm here today, to testify to every one of you, but more so for every parent, that they should know and be proud that on their mission their children are real Angels. Many tears fell that day".

Earlier in life it was Baseball he had a passion for and was an activity that his time was spent and which he excelled, playing on all his school teams winning many Championships for PAL, the Police Activities League through High School with his Brother a year younger who became a talented Catcher, that would catch the breaking curve balls of his older Brother all the way to City College of San Francisco.. He graduated from McAteer High School/ School of the Arts, went to CCSF and was awarded the Sobel Award in New Genre and began his Art schooling at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he received his BFA in New Genre and Interdisciplinary Art. Studied briefly with the famous Muralist Susan Cervantes at Precita Eyes, painted Murals and also come to Design and produce Architectural Signage for La Hue & Associates, Toll Graphics, Piscoff Co. For many years he was a Volunteer Docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, which kept his appreciation of Art ever expanding. Some of his jobs included working at Wilkes Bashford, doing Window Display, the Exploratorium, Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception~ for the High School Explainer Program, as a Program Manager, Folk Art International at the Frank Lloyd wright Building in SF, Serving Palo Alto and South San Francisco, Managing various Gallery operations. Theater Artaud and the Women's Building for the SF Carnaval Champions, Drum and Dance Ensemble, " Loco Bloco" as an Instructor and Float Designer and Promoter. Traveled to Study Afro Culture in Salvador Do Bahia Brazil, studying Art, Samba and other forms of Music and Religion of Candomble rituals and drumming in Curuzu with Ile Aiye Community Center & School, Performed and drummed for many Afro Brazilian Dance classes and Bateria Drummer of "Fogo Na Roupa" Performing Gruop.Today he is humbly living in Belmont California, learning the Millinery Art of hat blocking, making Legacy Fur Felt Fedoras, writing Poetry and where he continues to practice, experiment, learn and grow as an Artist.
